Kihachi Koubou was established in 1882 by Yamanaka Shikki’s lacquer artist, Kihachi II, as a local manufacturing wholesaler. It is the pioneer of painting merchants, craftsmen who walk around selling the objects they painted themselves, and it is the oldest shop of Yamanaka Shikki traditional crafts.
In the current Kihachi Koubou, the craftsmanship of the time has been passed down continuously, with woodworkers, groundworkers, painters, and lacquer artists possessing first-class skills. With domestic-focused manufacturing and historic design, we span across a wide range of products, from traditional to modern goods, and from high-class items to daily miscellaneous goods.
