The sharp and modern shape of ‘Trivet, Hisago’ does not at first appear to be a trivet at all. While it may seem that any pot or kettle placed on top would not be stable, rest assured that even the small ‘Ogasawara Rikucho: Small Mini Pan’ can rest on it stable and without any issue. Can be conveniently stored – either hang from the inside or hook via the ‘legs’.

A ‘Hisago’ is a device used once all liquids have been extracted from the pulp of a gourd – hollowing it out ,drying it, and cutting it in half vertically. It can also be called ‘Hishaku’. ‘Hisago’ is a generic term for fruits and vegetables such as gourds (bottle gourd, wax gourd, etc.). This beautiful trivet appears to have two gourds next to each other in its pattern, however maybe this is pointing towards two gourds used as ‘Hishaku’s’ instead.
